First Draft Proposal

This is the first draft of the proposal on Complimentary medicineProgramme proposal
Working Title Your Health, Your Wealth or Health Frontier

The host for this programme will be a tested hand in Studio presenting and a member of group C of Television Production Class group B.
Given the amount of area of specialities in complementary medicine in Ireland and the fact that many people do not know much about their services, we want to present an unbiased educative and informative view of their work. Also the views of conventional medicine practitioners will be sought and presented.

We will be interviewing a specialist in each area of complementary medicine each week with a service user appearing alongside them. And they will be encouraged to explain to the viewers detail about their service.
Yoga Parlour Drogheda has agreed to sponsor the programme.  Also numerous complementary medicine practitioners have d shown interests in sponsoring the programme with lot of advertisement potentials.
Production cost will be very little as the presenter is an in house presenter and our guests are ready to come on the programme for free. The studio piece will be shot in the college Television studio and the ENG part of the programme will be shot in practitioners’ offices.
The programme is to be aired on RTE 1 every Wednesday at 8pm taking the first 30 minutes of the slot of ‘Room to Improve’ which last episode was aired yesterday.

RESEARCH ON PROPOSED TV PROGRAMME ON ALERNATIVE MEDICINE IN IRELAND

Research work done on the programme Alternative Medicine

For thousands of years, what we now think of as Complementary and Alternative was the only available means of treating people. Nearly all human cultures have used some form of it in the past and many are embracing it again.

People we need to talk to
1 .Practitioners:  there are so many divisions of it in Ireland so we should not have much problem getting interviews.

Various sections of alternative medicine in Ireland include but not limited to the following

·  MASSAGE
·  REIKI
·  YOGA

2 We will also speak with people who have used alternative medicines before
3 We will also interview GPs who will give us insight into what conventional medicine practitioners think of alternative medicine
Some draw backs
1. Little draw back will be getting someone who have used their services before.
2. It is a vast area we may need to focus on one area or go general if we so choose
