PERSONAL DRAFT INTERVIEW QUESTIONS

These are the questions I have thought of, to ask the three people we will be interviewing for our programme ‘Healing Roots’.
Dr Gordon Daly (GP)

1What is your personal and professional view about alternative and complementary medicine?
2 There seem to have been a great rise in the number of people turning to alternative and complementary medicine in recent years, what would you say is responsible for this?
3 In what circumstance would you recommend alternative and complementary medicine to your patients?

4 Have you ever had any cause to refer a patient to a complimentary medicine practitioner and in what circumstance?
 5What would be your advice to patients seeking to turn to alternative and complementary medicine?
6 Have you used the services of any complimentary medicine specialist before and what was the circumstance?
7 Would you have any fear about the practise of complementary medicine and what would be this fear?
8 Would you recommend complementary medicine as part of primary health care and why?
9 How do you think complementary medicine can be fully integrated into main stream health system?

1 What is complementary medicine as distinct from conventional medicine?
2 What is Acupuncture?
3There seems to be a steady increase in the number of people turning into complimentary medicine what do you think is responsible for this?
4 Can you briefly take us through what a normal acupuncture session will entail?
5 How effective is acupuncture and can this be proven?
6 As acupuncture seems to entail the use of needles how do you arrive at decisions as to which sports these needles has to be inserted?
7 What are the possible complications if wrongly done?
8 How do you come about practising in Beaumont Hospital which is a conventional Hospital?
9 What has been the reactions of Doctors and patients who see you in Beaumont?
10 How do you get your patients?
11 Would you normally get referrals from GPs and conventional medicine specialist and how often would this be?
12 Do you still use the services of GPs and conventional hospitals?
